Research Scientist
Brings to Soar Technology over 20 years of experience in the fields of electrical engineering, computer science, and artificial intelligence, with an emphasis on pattern recognition and advanced informatics. At Soar Technology, his focus is on contextual reasoning, uncertainty, predictive modeling, and robotics. Prior to joining Soar Technology, Dr. Vayda was Senior Scientist for NovoDynamics, where he developed and delivered operational systems for applications including combinatorial catalyst discovery, predictive modeling for drug discovery, text processing for competitive intelligence, and vehicle tracking in video imagery. While a Research Engineer at ERIM, he conducted research and developed systems in areas including postal address interpretation using contextual analysis, optical character recognition (OCR), and large-scale heterogeneous data management. At the Purdue Robot Vision Laboratory, he developed a robot vision system for generic object recognition using range data. Dr. Vayda holds a BS in Engineering Science and an MS in Electrical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University, and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University. He is a member of the IEEE Computer Society, AAAI, and the Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu honor societies.
